This<br \/>\nmarks the successful completion of the project\u2019s commissioning phase, and the<br \/>\nWtE\u2019s entry into full commercial operation.<br \/>\n<strong>High energy efficiency with best technology<\/strong><br \/>\nRenergia, a modern and environmentally friendly WtE plant was built in Perlen, close to<br \/>\nLuzern. The construction comprised 13 main lots and Kanadevia Inova was responsible<br \/>\nfor the two chute to stack lots. The facilities supplied by Kanadevia Inova consisted of first class<br \/>\ntechnology ensuring Renergia Zentralschweiz AG &#8211; a consortium of waste management<br \/>\nassociations from six cantons and the paper manufacturer Perlen Papier AG &#8211; met its targets<br \/>\nfor energy efficiency.<br \/>\n<strong>Less fossil fuel, less CO2<\/strong><br \/>\nThe contract for the two lots was agreed in April 2012 and construction began in August<br \/>\n2012 with the first waste feed in January 2015. This means a period of around three years<br \/>\nfrom contract signature to commercial operation. The facility is set to produce 155\u2019000 MWh<br \/>\nof electricity per annum, will cover the energy requirements of nearly 38\u2019000 households and<br \/>\nsupply 320\u2019000 MWh of steam to the adjacent Perlen Papier AG. The supply to Perlen<br \/>\nPapier AG will save more than 40 million liters of oil and thus contribute to the reduction in<br \/>\nCO2 emissions, and significant cost saving for Perlen Papier AG.<br \/>\n<strong>Efficient combustion and low emissions<\/strong><br \/>\nKanadevia Inova\u2019s lots included the provision of an innovative water-cooled grate and the<br \/>\nnew integrated combustion concept which allows both highly efficient combustion and<br \/>\nmaximum energy recovery. In addition, the five stage flue gas treatment with electrostatic<br \/>\nprecipitator, dry FGT, catalytic DeNOx, semidry FGT and dosing of coke allows efficient<br \/>\ndepollution of the flue gases to lowest emission values.<br \/>\nRuedi Kummer, CEO of Renergia Zentralschweiz AG, said: \u201cWith the start of commercial<br \/>\noperation at the Renergia plant we have achieved one of the most important milestones in<br \/>\nthe construction phase of the new plant- and this was also thanks to the big contribution of<br \/>\nKanadevia Inova.\u201d<br \/>\nKanadevia Inova CEO Franz-Josef Mengede said: \u201cWe are proud to have delivered innovative<br \/>\ntechnologies with two main lots to Renergia, setting new milestones in WtE plants.
